For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Ephesians 6:12
Consequently, from now on, we estimate and regard no one from a purely human point of view regarding natural standards of value. No, even though we once did evaluate Christ from a human viewpoint and as a man, now we have such knowledge of Him that we know Him no longer in terms of the flesh. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! 2 Cor 5:16
Don't just choose your battle; decide whom to battle.
We often forget that our fight is against principalities and powers, not against flesh and blood. As followers of Christ, our default should be to battle the real enemy instead of people.
We are called to love without condition.
Yes, I know how easy that rolls off the page, but love is the answer.
When we are engaged in tit-for-tat, ghosting others, silent treatment, backbiting, grudge-carrying, and other unforgiving behaviors, we do not love others or ourselves!
When we are easily offended, defensive, offensive, disappointed, and judging others, we have crowded out a place for love.
As Paul indicated, we have supernatural standards now, not natural ones.
We are part of God's eternal kingdom; therefore, we are called to live in the light and draw others into the light with us.
Anything short of this does not bring God glory, no matter how much justice you think you are extracting from your perceived personal opponent.
Oh, how easily we are deceived into thinking that people are our problem instead of seeing others as our opportunity to love.
Most of our battles are because of our unwillingness to consider ourselves dead and alive unto Christ. We don't deny ourselves but hang on to our old life's rights.
The Good News!
We no longer have to live in the past or according to the patterns of this world. The old is indeed gone, and the new has come.
Look today at each relationship that you have had or having issues with and ask the following questions:
If Jesus has forgiven me, then why can't I forgive them?
Am I making what they have done to me greater than what Jesus has done for me?
In what ways is the enemy of our soul working in this situation?
What fruit would come out of reconciliation?
Lord, open our eyes, hearts, and will to You and Your love in new ways. May Your Holy Spirit bring light and healing to every relationship that the enemy of our soul has hijacked. Amen
