"Come," Jesus said. Then Peter descended from the boat, walked on water, and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and cried, "Lord, save me!" Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. "You of little faith," he said, "why did you doubt?" Matthew 14:29-31
If God has called you to it, He will walk you through it.
Peter had the faith to get out of the boat, walked a few steps, and sank.
The second step of faith is just as dependent upon God as the first step.
Walking simply means falling forward with each step and "catching" ourselves before we fall.
So we have a part in our walk of faith.
Try it.
Take a step out but don't put your other foot forward.
How did that work for you?
Probably a faceplant!
Did you look like a baby going for their first walk?
So each step, we must put our next foot forward.
Now imagine walking down a stairway and thinking that you're at the bottom, only to realize there is only air where the floor is supposed to be!
Again another faceplant!
In our walk with God, we trust that He is the ground we walk. He will be there waiting for us.
He is our firm foundation.
Our faith is in God, who calls us out and holds us up.
The One who leads us by still waters, shadows of death, and feasts with us in front of our enemies never leaves or forsakes us.
Have you embarked upon a new adventure and encountered giants in the land?
Are you trying to make it through a difficult season or day?
Remember, "The One Who called you is faithful and will do what He promised." (I Thessalonians 5:24).
Lord, You are our faith's author, perfector, and finisher. May we act on the faith You have given us. Amen
