That is, the mystery that had been hidden from the past ages and generations but now has been revealed to His saints, to whom God willed to make known what the wealth of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles is, the mystery that is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Colossians 1:26-27
(Note: some circumstances are harmful and life-threatening; I am not referring to these in this devotional. Remove yourself from them.)
Glorious Circumstances
Are you influencing your circumstances, or are they influencing you?
Are your current or future circumstances your idol?
Do you say or think, "When this situation is over, I will be okay or can move on?"
Do you consistently cope by thinking, "This, too, shall pass."? (not scriptural, BTW)
Is your hope of the variety that circumstances will improve but not a hope of glory?
"The secret is Christ in me, not me in different circumstances." Elisabeth Elliot
I consistently listen (well, I confess that I try) to many people describing their circumstances and how much better they would be if things changed.
They think that their circumstances are their problems. Rarely is a change of circumstances what is needed.
You may not need new circumstances; you may need a righteous perspective.
Righteous Perspectives:
You are in Christ, and Christ is in you.
Your life is not your own; you live it for His glory.
If you are hidden with Christ in God, so are your circumstances.
Your circumstances can act to reveal Jesus in you.
Now the bubble breaker--You are not the center of your life; Jesus is since He is your life.
How have you viewed a change of circumstances as an answer when a change in you is prescribed?
How have you borne fruit through difficult circumstances?
Lord, grant us wisdom to live abundantly. Continue to lead us to reveal You in every crevice of our lives. Amen
