Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts since you were called to peace as members of one body. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:15-17
Gratitude is Noticing.
"Humans have an almost infinite capacity for taking things for granted." Aldous Huxley
We take most things and people for granted because we are usually turned in on ourselves.
Think "self-centered."
Of course, no one wants to come to terms with that revelation!
When we live our agenda, we become blind to every good and perfect gift from Him.
Something beautiful happens when we live as sons and daughters of our loving Father.
Life is no longer about us.
He is walking (not running) His life out through us.
Love awakens us to see every person, circumstance, and place as an opportunity for the good redemptive works of love He has created us for to be displayed.
We notice...
That angry look on the waitress's face is a call to love, just like our two-year-old's tantrums.
Those clothes that didn't make it to the hamper will someday not hang on the bodies of people we love.
That broken relationship was not leading toward healing but destruction.
God makes ALL things work for the good because we love Him and are called by Him.
Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough. Melodie Beatty
Gratitude is knowing, El-Shaddai, the God Who Is Enough!
Describe what an awakening to the preciousness of life would look like for you.
What does it take to notice God working through you daily?
Lord, may we cultivate a heart of gratitude by thanking You for Your many blessings daily. Awaken us to Your life in us! Amen
