My friends, we want you to understand how it will be for those followers who have died. Then you won't grieve over them and be like people who don't have any hope. 1 Thessalonians 4:13
Grief is a love word.
I recently led a life celebration of a good friend who died. She had a couple of younger adult children whom I spent much time hearing about the depth of their loss.
Their grief was so overwhelming that it crowded out any space in my mind and filled my heart.
Have you ever grieved a sore throat or an adversary when they are gone?
We don't grieve those people or things we don't love.
It is easy to walk through our everyday lives and take the most precious people walking with us for granted. No matter how hard you try, you can only fully experience the depth of your love once the person is removed.
Grief is love magnified.
If you have recently experienced loss, understand there is no shame in grieving.
It is evidence of love.
Remember to grieve with eternal hope.
Give God thanksgiving for blessing your life with theirs, and love the ones still here with you.
How does experiencing grief with others affect you?
Who do you need to be more intentional about sharing your love with?
Who are you taking for granted?
Lord, You grieved when You knew your friend Lazarus would live again. Our grief grieves You. We thank You for revealing Your presence in our mourning. Amen
