Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit Who is within you, whom you have received as a gift from God, and that you are not your own property? You were bought with a price; you were purchased with Jesus's precious blood and made His own. So then, honor and glorify God with your body. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 AMP
His Purpose Is Now Our Purpose
We come into the kingdom of God by the Father's drawing, the Son's resurrected life, and the Holy Spirit's convincing.
We may all have different reasons for coming.
Usually, it is about being free from the guilt and shame of our life.
For some, it may be the chance of a new start.
Then, for some, it is the promise of heaven.
To this day, I am not sure what I was going through. Mostly, it was the conviction of the Holy Spirit, deep knowledge that I needed forgiveness, and the convincing that I had failed at trying to be a Christian even though I was Evangelically house-trained for 27 years!
Openly, most of us come out of some sense of needing His salvation for us.
It isn't about Him.
We focus on being free "from" ourselves.
God is so gracious that whatever our motives are by faith, He gives us new life!
Yet, His plan frees us "for" Himself that He may be glorified through our lives.
If God so loved the world that He gave His son, Jesus, then love must be our purpose, too.
He has freed us to become love.
Not only because of His great love for us but also because of His love for others.
Oh, that we will be conformed into the image of Jesus, Who is love.
In what ways are you still making this blood-purchased life about you? (Strong question, I know)
How might you start reading and meditating on scripture to discover the depth of His purpose for you?
Lord, continue walking us on the higher road past the narrow gate. As we walk higher, may we shed all the things that have entangled, burdened, and impeded this glorious path of loving You. Amen
