Our old life is dead. Your new life, which is your real life—even though invisible to spectators—is with Christ in God. He is your life. When Christ (your real life, remember) shows up again on this earth, you’ll show up, too—the real you, the glorious you. Meanwhile, be content with obscurity, like Christ. Colossians 3:3-4 The Message
It's All About Him
Jesus, Lover of My Soul (It's All About You)
[by Paul Oakley]
It's all about You, Jesus
And all this is for You
For Your glory and your fame
It's not about me
As if You should do things my way
You alone are God
And I surrender to Your ways
During meditation, I continue to hear, "It's all about You, Jesus; it's not about me."
This life isn’t ours.
It is His.
We choose to glorify Him with it.
It is about bearing fruit that glorifies Him!
And the fruit we bear is Love.
Because God is Love.
"If You Abide in Me, and My Words Abide in You, Ask Whatsoever You Will, and it Shall be Done Unto You" John 15:7
The promise of the text gives us infinite boldness: "Ask whatsoever you will, and it shall be done unto you."
The promise is given in direct connection with fruit-bearing. Limit it to yourself and your own needs, and you rob it of its power; you rob yourself of the power of appropriating it. (True Vine by Andrew Murray)
Holy Spirit reminds us of two things: "Come unto Me and Abide in Me."
Because apart from Him, we can do nothing.
Remember to reckon yourselves dead and know that dead people don't have any problems--you and I are alive in Christ, Who is our life.
We are all branches on His Vine bearing His fruit to His glory.
How have you hoarded God’s promises for yourself?
How have you substituted effort for obedience?
In what ways have you focused on yourself instead of Christ in you?
Lord, awaken us to our death and your life in us. May we know that You are the vine, and we are the branches bearing the fruit of Your Love. Amen
