All who labor and are heavily laden, come to me, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light." Matthew 11:28-30 ESV
Learn from Me
Does anybody need rest?
Is there anyone who is laboring under their burdens of guilt?
Do you need help carrying something you aren’t designed to move by yourself?
Is there such a thing as rest that bears fruit?
Accept this world's most fabulous invitation!
Jesus is inviting you and me to come to Him and receive rest.
This is not the absence of work because the illustration is one of a yoke.
A couple of work animals use a harness to work the soil, pull a harvest wagon, or thresh grain.
The difference is that we are no longer doing this ourselves but co-laboring with Christ, who works so mightily within us.
Remember, God works within us to will and do of His good pleasure!
Learning is a process.
A disciple is taught and trained.
After years of intimately knowing and learning from Him, it is still easy to forget most of my transformation has come from time with Him!
The transformation of my life has come through the renewing of my mind.
I have had some great Holy Spirit awakenings, but my every day walking around life has been formed through learning the mind of Christ and the heart of the Father as revealed by the Holy Spirit.
Please don't wait for your transformation to come from a dramatic earth-shattering heavenly revelation when it mostly comes from intimacy with our Abba Father.
How would the lives of those around you be different if you had a heart full of gentleness and humility?
How could your prayers change once you are yoked with Christ?
How might you be waiting for God to zap you into transformation when He calls you into a transforming relationship?
Lord, forgive us for the attitudes that keep us from accepting an abiding relationship with You. Find us moving towards Your invitation of an easy yoke, resting, and learning Your heart for us and this world. Amen
