The beautiful message you’ve heard right from the start is that we should walk in self-sacrificing love toward one another. 1 John 3:11
The Beautiful Message Of Love
I was thinking as a Father today and considering God the Father's sacrifice of His Son the agony.
Yet He did this not only for me but for Christ and the Holy Spirit.
In doing so, He gave the Son a body to express Himself to the universe. (Ephesians 5:23, 29-30, Romans 12:4-5, I Corinthians 10:17). Also, the Holy Spirit would have a temple in which to dwell. (Ephesians 2:19-22)
The Son did not go to the cross for Himself but for His Father and the Holy Spirit. The Father gains a family to glorify the Father (John 7:18, 8:50, 8:54 & 14:13). (John 1:12) And of course, the Holy Spirit receives a temple.
The Holy Spirit's role: He glorifies the Son by revealing what the Son has done through the cross and resurrection. If anyone knows the Son, then he knows the Father, too. (John 14:9) The Holy Spirit glorifies the Son and the Father. So what each One does, He does for the other Two!!!
Self-sacrificing love is more than an example for us; it is an empowered reality.
When have you experienced giving or receiving self-sacrificing love?
What are the barriers to you living a self-sacrificing love?
Lord, thank You. Bless You. Praise You. We offer our lives as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to You as our act of worship and service. Yes, Lord, we will express this love You have given us to one another with a grateful heart. Amen
