This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we should also love one another. I John 4:9-11
Perfect Love
I desire something to be removed from our understanding of God's love for us.
It isn't despite us.
It isn't because we are lovable or unlovable.
It isn't because of our behavior.
It is Who He Is.
He is love.
So what He does is...love.
The following is one of the best modern daily prayers I have enjoyed. May we lean into Who our lover is and what He desires of us.
The Gospel Prayer
In Christ, I could do nothing that would make You love me more, and nothing I have done that makes You love me less.
Your presence and approval are all I need today for everlasting joy.
As You have been to me, so I will be to others.
As I pray, I’ll measure Your compassion by the cross and Your power by the resurrection.
(Gospel Prayer by J.D. Greear)
As you read each line, meditate on the depth of the truth of the Lord our God.
Lord, thank You for your perfect love. Amen
