But He told me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For Christ's sake, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10
Power Perfected Through Weakness
"Deny your weakness, and you will never realize God's strength in you." Joni Eareckson Tada
The above quote is contrary to the way of the "world."
We are told to keep a stiff upper lip, stand our ground, pull ourselves up by our bootstraps, and never let them see us sweat!
Yet God's strength within us, not Him making us strong, leads to freedom and victory.
It is God’s strength, not an improvement of mine!
He stiffens my upper lip; He plants my feet on the rock. He picks me up.
He gives me courage in the face of fear.
If we continue as followers of Christ to put on a front of perfectness and strength, it is we who others will praise, not Him.
I desire not to be a "Good man; it is to be "God's man".
That is a miracle.
Only when others see the wonder of His strength in our weakness will others be attracted by His glory and splendor exposed through the cracks of our lives.
What are the cracks in your life that you hide with paper mache?
How have you tried to be strong when God wanted to be your strength?
Lord, Your Kingdom is amazing! It is inside out, upside down, multidimensional compared to this world. Yet You have invaded this world to bring the Good News of Your Kingdom. Thank you for giving us the privilege of bringing the Good News! Amen
