O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever! 1 Chronicles 16:34
Righteous Expectations
Many of us have been conditioned to think of God as a doting Parent whose function is to shield us from unpleasant circumstances. No wonder we're disappointed. Helen Grace Lescheid
The chasm between our expectations of how we think God should work and our experiences often result in disappointment.
Is having no expectations the only way to narrow, eliminate, or bridge this chasm?
No.
Is it to lower our expectations?
No.
As long as we live in skin and time, trusting in His heart is the only way to bridge (not eliminate) this chasm.
It is in knowing that He is a Good Father who rewards us with Himself.
So seek Him regardless of expected outcomes.
The root issue of why we doubt God is our lack of believing, that is, experiential knowing that He is good.
Seek to know His heart that has been revealed in Jesus.
In what ways is God not meeting your expectations:
In relationships?
In circumstances?
In dreams?
In your health?
Lord, may we know You are good. May we know that You have revealed Your love through Your Son, Jesus, and You love us as You love Him. Amen
