A psalm of David. The earth is the Lord's, everything in it, the world, and all who live there. (24:1)
Moving from ownership to stewardship
There may be no greater freedom than owning nothing!
I cannot remember the day, but there was a paradigm shift, repentance, when I agreed with what David proclaimed in Psalm 24.
God owns all. I own nothing.
Is there anything you own that will be with you for eternity?
If you are not taking your car, home, spouse, children, farm, big toys, small toys, etc., you don't own them.
At best, they are on loan!
When we can relinquish the mentality that we own something, freedom comes.
We can have possessions without them possessing us because they are not ours.
Because we no longer serve possessions, the possessions can serve the King.
When we give up everything, He will claim them and give them back to us with a gentle, take these and bless others.
We move from recognizing we are not owners but stewards.
There is no pressure in being a steward when you understand it as a privilege, not a burden.
How might you find freedom by recognizing all you own, including dreams, aspirations, relationships, and material possessions, are not yours but His?
How would your time be spent differently?
How would your thinking change as a result of this change of mind?
Lord, thank You for entrusting us with every good and perfect gift so that we may participate in giving away what You have given. Amen
