“I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
Two Promises
We hear one and ignore the other.
Or live in one and forget the other.
"In this world, you will have trouble."
For some reason, we often still think that, as followers of Christ, everything should be smooth.
This ain't heaven!
Our perspective on trouble should be to ask Heaven to invade Earth; His will be done here.
It is an opportunity to exercise our faith.
And we can do it because of the second promise from Jesus in this verse.
We take heart because if He has overcome this world, so have we.
Recognize both promises; don't be surprised when you have troubles or overcome them.
Set your mind and keep focused habitually on the things above, the heavenly things, not on things that are on the earth that have only temporal value. Colossians 3:2
What hardships, trials, or troubles are you now facing that can bring Him glory?
How do you see you're partaking in His victory in and through your hardships, trials, or troubles?
Lord, this is Your day and Your life. Be glorified in me! May Your light slip out of the cracks caused by circumstances and relationships to illuminate to others the hope we have in You. Amen
