Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, indeed everything in the heavens and the earth; Yours is the dominion, O Lord, and You exalt Yourself as head over all. I Chronicles 29:11
Pride is Deceitful
Pride can look very different depending on your vantage point.
It is a two-sided coin.
One side of the coin displays that I am significant enough not to need mercy or grace.
My faith is in my all-sufficiency.
I will do life my way.
This is believing I am big enough.
The other side of the coin portrays my sin as so great that even an almighty creator, God, isn't great enough to forgive and redeem me.
This is believing that Jesus' sacrifice didn't reach the depth of my sins.
Sounds humble, but it is pride.
This is believing God is not big enough.
What is the antidote?
At first, it seems it would be humility.
But it is the goodness of God!
The goodness of God leads us to repentance resulting in humility.
Humility is a position of relationship with our Abba Father, knowing that all things are from Him and through Him and to Him.
We fully experience the abundance of life once we are in a position of humility.
When He found you, on which side of the coin were you looking?
What would you tell someone else about the lie that hides within pride?
Lord, awaken us to Your mercy and grace! May we experience the fullness of Your love for us, through us, and to others. Amen
