"So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who can govern these great people of yours?” The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for this. So God said to him, “Since you have asked for this and not for long life or wealth for yourself, nor have you asked for the death of your enemies but for discernment in administering justice, I will do what you have requested. I will give you a wise and discerning heart so that there will never have been anyone like you, nor will there ever be. I Kings 3:9-12
Wisdom
"Better to be a channel of truth than a reservoir of knowledge." Rick Atchley
Interestingly, in the account recorded in First Kings, Solomon didn't ask for wisdom but for a discerning heart.
God gave Him wisdom, which is more than knowledge; it is knowing the heart of God.
Truth comes from knowing the Person of Truth and is first a heart issue.
We lead from our heart, using a renewed mind of Christ to navigate.
Wisdom was here first: Proverbs 8
“The Lord brought me forth as the first of his works, before his deeds of old; I was formed long ages ago, at the very beginning, when the world came to be. When there were no watery depths, I was given birth; when no springs were overflowing with water; before the mountains were settled in place, before the hills, I was given birth, before he made the world or its fields or any of the dust of the earth. I was there when he set the heavens in place, when he marked out the horizon on the face of the deep, when he established the clouds above and fixed securely the fountains of the deep, when he gave the sea its boundary so the waters would not overstep his command, and when he marked out the foundations of the earth. Then, I was constantly at his side. I was filled with delight daily, rejoicing always in his presence, rejoicing in his whole world, and delighting in mankind."
Wisdom comes from the very heart of God, and it is Truth itself.
